News, new mp3: The National announce new album High Violet

The National
's critically acclaimed 2007 album Boxer was in an house favourite at Remote Control. The band played stunning shows to sold out crowds on their debut Australian tour the following year, before the brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner curated the star-studded double cd benefit compilation Dark Was The Night, featuring the likes of Sharon Jones, Arcade Fire, Feist, Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projects and David Byrne and many, many more.

So we are thrilled that The National have announced they will be releasing their fifth full length studio album High Violet, in May. The album contains eleven tracks and was recorded in the band's own studio in Brooklyn with further recording and mixing at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Peter Katis.

The first single from High Violet is Bloodbuzz Ohio due for release on 7" vinyl and digital download on May 3.

The 7" comes backed with a brand new song entitled 'Sin-Eaters', recorded at The National's own studio in Brooklyn, and mixed by Patrick Dillet at Kampo in New York. The artwork features work by acclaimed Ohio-born New York-based artist Mark Fox.

Fans can download a free mp3 of Bloodbuzz Ohio now by heading to HIGHVIOLET.COM
